I woke up again this morning with a heavy heart. Should I get up early, like my soul loves and yearns to do? Allow myself those few hours of quiet to sit with Jesus and be comforted with His words.
I have nowhere to go…nothing to do, I thought to myself. This lockdown situation and crazy virus is still a thing.
I stayed there for a while. Let myself fall back to sleep.
He started with the thought that He still sits on the throne. Nothing happens outside of His mighty hand and outstretched arm. “Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?” (Lamentations 3:37, ESV).
I still laid there.
Then he began to remind me that as long as there is breath in me, I have a reason and a purpose to get up. I liked this thought. It resonated with me. Feeling needed is something that makes me tick.
God has a purpose for me today! I may not know yet what that purpose is, but He will let me know.
So, holding onto that promise, I got up with a quiet song in my heart that I allowed to grow. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” became my anthem. And indeed, His faithfulness is great!
It would be so very easy, no matter what your circumstance, to stay in the pit of despair. You have reasons pounding you on every side. However, I encourage you, and myself, to remember who you are in Christ…and who Christ is in you.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:35-37, NIV).
Even today.
